Reduce equipment down time and increase their reliability with the new RPI Sterilizer PM Kits. How many times has this happen to you? Your customer calls with a sterilizer problem. You find that the sterilizer needs a new gasket. You make sure you have the right gasket on your truck to do the job. You replace the gasket and, at the same time, you notice that the filter and bellows should be replaced or will need to be replaced in the very near future. But, you don¹t have the filter or bellows with you. You disappoint your customer by having to tell him that you don't have the parts with you. It's a difficult position to be in, isn't it? Well not anymore! Here's your solution. RPI created custom PM Kits to fit Pelton & Crane steriliziers. That's right, now you can do the repair and offer your customers the RPI Sterilizer PM kit to help keep their equipment stay in top running shape. |
|
All the parts needed to do a basic planned maintenance are now in one kit and under one RPI part number RPI puts this convenience right into your car stock. What's more, RPI has priced the kits so that it's less expensive to purchase the kits than it is to purchase all of the items in the kits separately! It's the RPI Advantage! RPI¹s first sterilizer PM kits fit the Pelton and Crane sterilizers including the Delta 8" and 10", Magnaclave, Sentry, OCM, OCR, OCR+, Validator 8 and 10 as well as the Validator 8+ and 10+. The Kits include a door gasket and then depending on the model it also includes the bellows, filters, o-rings and other necessary parts. We all know that any equipment runs better when it is maintained. Waiting for the unit to fail before doing planed maintenance just increases the cost of future repairs, returned trips to the customer and the chances for an angry customer. So next time you service a sterilzier, be prepared with the RPI Sterilizer PM Kits. |

Designed exclusively by RPI for our customers, the kit includes the most often utilized instruments and tools to use when servicing and repairing the 900, 2000 and 5000. Heres what the RPI Smart Kit includes first item is a Pump Tester Bottle Kit (RPI Part #SCK024), but not your run of the mill tester. No sir! The RPI bottle has a swivel fitting on the lid that allows you to control the position and balance of the bottle. In addition, RPI includes 8 inches of tubing already connected to the swivel fitting which allows you to move the bottle a safer distance away from the machine during testing. Life just got easier for you! Next comes another RPI exclusive the Start Switch (RPI Part #SCS021). When testing the pump or decontaminating the boiler, it is suggested by the manufacturer to use a screwdriver to short pins #18 and #16 together. Relax RPI developed an easier and safer way to do this. Simply connect the new RPI Start Switch to the PC board connector and when ready to test, press the Start Switch button for the required amount of time, then release it. Whats more, the switch even has a nifty hold feature for those longer test periods. Next item in the kit is the first of its kind. Only RPI offers this item, because its RPIs exclusive design! Its the RPI Extension Test Cable (RPI Part #SCT026). By attaching the extension cable to both the cover cable connections and the PC board connectors, you will be able to extend the distance between the machine and the cover when you take it off, thus allowing more workspace. In addition, it allows you to place the cover in a horizontal (not vertical) position for easier viewing of the LCD display. Just imagine it as an extension cord that allows you to have the freedom to service the machine without space constrictions and with the ease of pushing and viewing buttons while the cover lies horizontal, not vertical! |

There are Plans to Pursue Voluntary Regulation of Refurbishers and Servicers of Medical Equipment by Ira Lapides, CEO and President,
Replacement Parts Industries, Inc. At the recent AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) conference in Baltimore, FDA representatives announced that they still have plans to pursue voluntary regulation of refurbishers and servicers of medical equipment. This issue was put on the back-burner at the FDA for almost two years as regulations regarding the re-use of single use devices was debated and then implemented. By the end of 2001, it is the FDAs goal to draft a proposed document for public review and comment regarding the proposed voluntary regulations. These regulations are tabbed as voluntary because the FDA feels that it does not have the manpower to regulate all servicers and refurbishers of medical equipment. An organization to be determined (AAMI is under consideration) will handle the monitoring of companies who register, and, I assume, pass that information along to the FDA in some type of summary format. It would be to the advantage of companies to register, as it will add legitimacy to their sales efforts by providing specific information to their customers on the condition of the equipment they are selling. The labeling will add a layer of comfort to purchasers of used medical equipment that they are dealing with a business that is unafraid of disclosing a little information. The International Association of Medical Equipment Remarketers and Servicers (IAMERS) has done something similar within their own organization with their published and enforced code of ethics. The FDA regulations are basically intended to ensure that used medical equipment that is resold is properly labeled regarding its condition. This would mean labeling such as meets performance specifications or as is. Originally, it was thought that the FDA intended to regulate servicers for the actual servicing of equipment, but the statements made at the AAMI meeting were clear that the regulations would only apply to servicers when they re-sell equipment. You can access additional information and monitor progress on the FDA web site at www.fda.gov. Participation in the process, especially through written comments when the proposed guidelines are released is strongly encouraged by the FDA, as they have been very open about this whole process, working with OEMs, consumer groups, and industry organizations such as AAMI, SIA, and IAMERS to ensure a good result. This continues to be an important regulatory issue that should not be ignored. |

by Al Lapides, CEO Emeritus & Chairman of the Board, Replacement Parts Industries, Inc. You bet it is! It's what happened in the trial that makes it our problem. First, let's make sure we're all up to speed. A class action suit was brought against State Farm Insurance for using non-OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) body parts to repair auto collision damages. The plaintiffs won an unprecedented $1.2 billion award. It is now in appeal. Fine, you say. Those dirty insurance companies are always cutting corners and giving us the short end. Glad somebody caught up with them. Not so fast, please. Look at the details of the case. If you're in the service business, any service business, you've just been put on notice that you're next. After the ruling, these same people have now filed suits against 20 other insurance companies and against the company the insurance companies use to test independent aftermarket parts. Here's a short summary of what happened: Some people had bad experiences with some parts used in the repair of their cars. Instead of complaining to State Farm, they went to see lawyers. This in spite of the fact that their policies included the use of aftermarket parts, and that all parts were warranted. Six plaintiffs started the suit, but one had never even been in an accident or had any repair done. The lawyers shopped the suit through 11 jurisdictions before they even found a court that would take it. The court ignored the policy agreements and warranty. The judge stated flatly in his decision that ALL aftermarket parts are inferior to OEM parts. He did not limit his decision to the automotive industry. Think of what this can mean to your business or department when there is no longer any competition to maintain quality and pricing. Therefore, a great number of service based trade associations are joining in supporting the appeal. A leader in this is the SIA (Service Industry Association). They have decided to file a "friend of the court" brief. They are also going to begin a public relations program on the value of using aftermarket products and non-OEM service. Letter writing campaigns will also be started. Your involvement is needed, if only for your own sake. Please get in touch with the SIA office and find out what you can do. The Executive Director of SIA is Claudia Betzner. You can reach her at (404) 885-9908 or via e-mail, Cbetzner@aol.com. They'll need your support. We helped win the Kodak case. We'll help win this one. |

It's as simple as 1-2-3. You can now create your own parts cross reference guide sorted by OEM part number for each piece of equipment that RPI makes parts to fit. Currently, the cross reference section in our catalog has parts sorted by RPI part number, so this new website feature gives you another excellent option to search for parts and keep a listing close at hand. To create a parts cross reference from our website, simply click the "Create a Parts Listing" bar that appears on the left side of our homepage and follow the instructions on the "Create an RPI Parts Listing" page. By the way, if you want your cross reference to include pricing, be sure to click on the bar that reads "If you wish to include pricing, RPI customers log in". Input your RPI account number in the Password box, and click to submit. (If your account number includes any letters, please use upper case letters.) Once the authorization for pricing
has been accepted, click the bar that reads "Press to Return to Originating
Page". This will bring you back to the "Create an RPI Parts Listing" page. At
this point you are ready to customize your listing by following three simple
steps: Here's another nice feature. Once you have your listing on the screen, you will notice that the RPI part numbers are in blue and underlined. If you click on any part number in your listing, the website will take you to a page that includes an illustration and detailed information about the part. You can even print your listing. Now that's what we call easy searching. |
